Why I'm Taking Japanese

Linguistics is something that I'm really interested in, just in general. I picked a language from a country that I thought I might like to visit someday, and the language and the culture of Japan seemed like the best fit. I'm also interested in Japanese pop culture (animation, music, poetry, literature,) which I feel would be much easier to connect with if I learned the nuances of the language. (-:

    1. Hi Ryota!
I'm a first year at Barnard College of Columbia, and I'm from California. I don't play sports, but over ten times in a month sounds impressive! I'm sorry, I don't really understand what "third grade" and "second grade" mean. Could you explain these words to me?
Your part-time job also sounds very interesting! なようびはたらきますか?アルバイトが好きですか?
すみません、I don't know very much Japanese yet!
